The Kent Reliance Community Foundation is proud to announce a grant to the Chatham Historic Dockyard Trust to launch Dockyard Discoverers 2025/26. This initiative will provide up to 900 pupils from Medway schools with high pupil premium with free school visits to The Historic Dockyard Chatham.
This grant aligns perfectly with our core mission to advance education for underprivileged children and young people and promote social mobility. We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to access rich, hands-on learning experiences, regardless of their background.
The Dockyard Discoverers programme will open doors for students to engage with the dockyard's award-winning Learning Programme. Through hands-on, STEM-focused sessions, students will explore key concepts within the inspiring setting of a historic site once known for its innovation and engineering excellence.
The Historic Dockyard's Learning Programme has been nationally recognised with the prestigious Sandford Award and the Quality Badge from the Council for Learning Outside the Classroom, a testament to its educational value.
"We are absolutely delighted to be supporting this project, which aligns perfectly with our commitment to advancing education for underprivileged children and young people and fostering their social mobility," said Jonathan Couch, Head of Grants at the Kent Reliance Community Foundation. "We believe that investing in these areas is crucial for building a brighter future for individuals and communities alike."
This funding will help the Chatham Historic Dockyard Trust remove financial barriers that often prevent schools from accessing valuable learning opportunities outside the classroom. By investing in this programme, we are helping to ensure that more young people in our community can thrive and discover their potential.
